Inspiring Speakers

We were thrilled to have an incredible lineup of speakers who shared their experiences and offered valuable advice:

Jacob Wood from Raleigh International discussed the organisation's initiatives in remote areas, focusing on safe water access, community resilience, resource management, and environmental protection. Jacob inspired students to think globally and consider the impact of youth involvement in community projects.

Carey Murphy de Neef Fitzgerald of Silver Mountain Productions shared her journey in the film and television industry, highlighting the power of storytelling and representation. From working on "Monty Python’s Life of Brian" to producing documentaries like "Cameraman - the Life & Work of Jack Cardiff," Carey emphasized the importance of innovation in media.

Brenda Shankey, the Irish Businesswoman of the Year 2012, shared her remarkable career transition from a celebrity hair and makeup artist touring with celebrities to creating her own successful male grooming business and beauty line. Brenda's story of innovation and quality in building a successful brand was truly inspiring. For more information, please contact Brenda.

Amit Singh Kalley of For Working Parents and Mixala Chai captivated the audience with his career change story from Deputy Head of a secondary school to the owner of two companies, including a startup. Amit's journey into creating inclusive workplaces and balancing work and life resonated deeply with the students, sparking the most feedback and questions.

Benefits for Students

The Careers Fair allowed students to meet and mingle with prospective employers, gathering information from industries they may not have previously considered. It also provided opportunities for students to be recruited by prospective recruitment agencies.

Student Feedback

We received wonderful feedback from students via a survey sent out through a QR code. Many students expressed how valuable they found the networking opportunities and the advice given by the speakers. They’re already looking forward to the next Careers Fair!

Employers' Feedback

Employers gave very positive feedback. We have now partnered with HSBC and One Million Mentors and gained recruitment interest from John Lewis, Remedy Education, and Zen Educate. Many employers have shown interest in future fairs and have secured booth spaces.

Future Events

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be hosting bi-annual Careers Fairs at all our campuses, with the next one scheduled for October in Birmingham. Stay tuned for more details!

Benefits for Employers

Employers benefit by gaining access to prospective employees from ESL, particularly students studying Accounting and Finance, Business Management, Health and Social Care, and IT and Computing.
